REVERSE ANGLE

Siaka Konate, Adama Kone, Abubakar Jalloh, Ismaila Sarr, Lamine Mohamed Toure e da Zidane Awal, Sano Bouare, Nouhoum Coulibaly, Lassana Diawara, Sidiki Dore, Souleymane Diarra, Mohamed Fofana, Mustapha Fofana, Ousmane Fofana, Bocar Ka,Ibrahima Kamissoko, Alexis Kandety, Saliou Kante, Sidiky Keita, Bakari Kone, Alex Osariemen, Abdoulaye Sacko, Mohamed Sako, Harouna Sane, Mohamed Sidibe, Seku Souare, Mohamed Traore, Seydou Traore.

The project Reverse Angle (in the cinematic language, a shot that views the action from the opposite side of the previous shot) by Davide Ferrario brings to Binario 2 of OGR a new perspective on a widely investigated issue. By starting from the relationship with a group of young African migrants living in the town where he lives, Pecetto Torinese, Ferrario commissioned to each of them a series of mobile phone footage. For once, they are asked how they see us. No interviews, no words, no social or moral presumption, there are only everyday images, sounds and situations that, through the three screens editing by Ferrario, evolves into an unpredictable, surreal tableau of our “normality”.

Davide Ferrario – Biography and filmography

Born in 1956 in Casalmaggiore, BA Hons in American Literature at Università di Milano, he lives in Torino.
He started working in film during the 70s as a critic and essayist, starting a small distribution company responsible for circulating the work of directors such as Fassbinder, Wenders, Wajda in Italy. He later worked as Italian agent for independent American directors such as John Sayles, and Jim Jarmusch.
In 1989 he directed his first feature film, La fine della notte, hailed as “Best independent film” of the season.
He has directed a number of fictional and documentary films which have brought him recognition in Italy and have featured at many international festivals including Berlin, Sundance, Venice, Toronto, and Locarno. Among others: Tutti giù per terra, Figli di Annibale, Guardami and works in collaboration with Marco Paolini. The latest chronologically was “comedy with music” Tutta colpa di Giuda.
Ferrario is one of a kind on the Italian film-making scene. Rigorously indipendent, he is not just a director but also the head of his own, highly successful production company, Rossofuoco. Dopo mezzanotte, made with a very low budget, was a great success in Italy and was distributed worldwide, as was documentary film La strada di Levi. His latest feature documentary, Devil’s soup, premiered in 71. Mostra Internazionale del Cinema di Venezia.
He is also a writer: his novel Dissolvenza al nero (Fade to Black) was translated into a number of languages and adapted for the screen by Oliver Parker. In September 2010 Feltrinelli published Sangue mio.
He writes for newspapers and radio shows; he also published a book of photographs following his exhibition Foto da galera (2005).
